To the editor:

I support Joe Miller. I take my child to Joe Miller events. Why? Because he won the primary and I support my candidate.

I want my child to know that there are consequences to winning and losing. There is no do over. Too many children are being taught everyone is a winner and there are no losers. This cannot be the case. There will always be a pecking order. There will always be someone who outshines another. There will be moments that my child is a winner and there will be moments she is not.

I liken this to the Pinewood Derby the Cub Scouts do every year. Each boy makes a car hoping it will be the fastest one. Each car has a lot of time, effort and love devoted to it. The day of the race comes.

Someone will take first place. If it is not your child, what do you do? Do you say, “great job, you ran a great race and you’ll make an even better car next year?” Or, do you say, “we’re going to keep racing until my child’s car wins because no one else’s car matters?”

I say everyone’s car matters and in this election, everyone’s voice matters. Our primary winners in all the races are the people we should support. There was a race, people voted and there was a winner. I will be a good example to my child and support that winner.
