If it's the end of summer, it means that Valley Performing Arts' new season is right around the corner.
But before there can be shows, there has to be auditions.
On Aug. 27, auditions for "Everybody Loves Opal," which is sponsored by the Frontiersman, will take place at 2 p.m. at Machetanz Theatre in Wasilla.
The comedy is about Opal, a goofy sort, and her newfound friends who decide Opal is worth more to them dead than alive.
VPA needs four men and two women for the performance, which is being directed by longtime VPA veteran Larry Bottjen. Auditions will include readings from the script.
