WASILLA — Valley Performing Arts is currently in the middle of Season 48, offering homegrown entertainment with local adaptations of popular plays across genres.
"The season is moving right along!" VPA Executive Director Spencer Rotach said.
"Into The Woods" and "The 39 Steps" were the first two productions of the season.
"'Into The Woods' and 'The 39 Steps' had some great reviews," Rotach said. 'According to some of our reviews, 'The 39 Steps' was called intriguing, had talented actors, an excellent soundtrack, and hilarious scenes and situations, keeping you on your toes. For 'Into the Woods,' some of our reviews included the talented actors/vocals, great costumes and fantastic visuals/set pieces. VPA partnered with The Glenn Massay Theater for the production of 'Into the Woods' and we are very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them."
VPA is currently preparing for its third production of the season, "A Christmas Story." According to Rotach, tickets for the opening night have already sold out.
"The cast and crew are working hard to get ready for our opening weekend," Rotach said. "Everyone is eager for the next VPA production. The Christmas show always causes a buzz of excitement and families love to share in the magic of theater during Christmas time."
The "Felons, Flappers & Foul Play," dinner theater comes after "A Christmas Story."
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame," and "The Play that Goes Wrong," follow that, both at the Glenn Massay Theater.
"What an excellent lineup we have and I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy quality live theater in the Valley here at Valley Performing Arts!" Rotach said.
VPA recently held a pop-up show at Meta & Rose called "Alien Invasion," an one act show that ran for two nights.
"We are eager to have more pop up events in the future and look forward to collaborating with Meta & Rose once again," Rotach said.
VPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering quality entertainment with local volunteers. They also offer theater camp learning sessions during the summer.
VPA regular showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
