On Saturday, March 26, at the AT&T Sports Center on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, the March of Dimes will hold its annual fund-raising Mat-Su March for Babies Walk.
March of Dimes focuses on the challenges of premature birth. The premature birth rate in the United States is beginning to go down, but there is much more to be done. In addition to research into the causes and treatments of early births, MOD reaches out to families in hospitals as they face the unknown with their newborns in a neonatal intensive care unit. Providence Hospital in Anchorage is one such facility that has a NICU. Funds raised in the Mat-Su will be used within Alaska as well as on the national level.
To help March of Dimes with this important work, join the March for Babies Mat-Su Walk. Register and donate at marchforbabies.org online or on the day of the walk at 9 a.m. The indoor walk begins at 10. Please bring indoor walking shoes. Participants who are walking in honor or memory of a premature baby may bring a photograph of the special infant.
There will be displays of interest to young families and lots of prizes! Please join us for fun, exercise, education and a good cause! See you on March 26!
