A new library would be nice as well as a nice memento to the council members for years to come. The timing couldn’t be much worse. Obviously, the people supporting this venture have good jobs or lots of time on their hands. Apparently, no one has informed them the economy is tanking. Oil companies, coal, lumber, jobs are disappearing, and the sentiment for these companies is dropping. Otherwise, like years past, we could entice them to front money for projects like this.
I don’t know councilman Buzz Buswell, but we need more like him on the council board. People can’t afford gas to go to town for groceries, etc., let alone face more taxes. Costs are escalating daily on everything. If we, the city, have money to throw around, let’s help the homeless; a real problem growing every day. People are cutting back every day, and every way. They can’t keep afloat anymore. The last thing we need is another tax increase of any kind. Right now, wants are not needs. I’m not trying to step on toes, but get realistic and put this library project on the bookshelf for now.
