Warrior girls split in first two games of tourney

The Wasilla Warriors girls' basketball team scored a 66-54 victory over the Juneau-Douglas Bears during the second day of action in the Princess Tours-Alaska Airlines Capitol City Classic.

Chandice Cronk poured in 30 points to lead the Warriors to victory. The senior guard hit six of seven shots from the floor, and had two three-pointers.

Point guard Trista White added 21 for the Warriors.

The starting guard tandem of Cronk and White scored 51 of Wasilla's 66 points.

Forward Marsha Schirack led the Warriors in the paint with 10 points.

In the opening round of the Classic, Wasilla fell to the Troy (CA) Warriors

71-62.

Cronk scored 31 points, including 12 from beyond the arc. White added 13 points.

The Warriors will take on Alameda (CA) in the final game of the tournament.
