Jacob Gilbert tossed a complete game to lead Wasilla to a 9-1 win over South Friday. Gilbert scattered five hits over seven innings, and didn’t allow a South run until the sixth. Wasilla also benefited from a seven-run fifth in the win. Leadoff hitter Clayton Boyett was 3 of 4 with two runs and two RBI. Kyle Graham added two hits, two runs and an RBI. Six different Warriors scored at least one run.
Wasilla used the win over South to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to host Kodiak on Thursday. The Bears plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to complete the rally. This came after Wasilla scored three times in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.
Ben Warner collected two of Wasilla’s six hits in the loss, and drove in three runs. Boyett also had an RBI.
Wasilla clubbed South Anchorage 13-5 in its season opener during the first day of the Matautia Invitational in Kodiak.

Every hitter in the starting lineup either drove in a run or scored a run. Five Warriors had at least a run and an RBI. Wasilla finished with 13 hits.
Nolan Murphy made the start for Wasilla and allowed two hits over two innings.
