Warriors cruise into Dimond Lady Lynx semifinals

ANCHORAGE — The Wasilla Warriors cruised to a 61-40 win over West Valley during the second day of the Dimond Lady Lynx Prep Shootout Thursday afternoon at Dimond High School in Anchorage.

Catherine Baham scored a team-high 12 points to help the Warriors post the win over the Wolfpack in the quarterfinal round of the event’s gold bracket. With the victory, Wasilla moves forward to play either East Anchorage or Lathrop in the semifinal round Friday at 6:15 p.m. at Dimond.

Ruthy Hebard led West Valley with 16 points.

Wasilla earned a spot in the gold bracket with a 65-36 victory over South Anchorage during pool play Wednesday. Azlynn Brandenburg led the Warriors with 13 points. McKenna Dinkel added a dozen, and Olivia Davies chipped in 10.

In other gold bracket action, Colony fell to Ketchikan 54-43. Amanda Smith led the Knights with 13 points. In the maroon bracket, Juneau-Douglas beat Palmer 47-34.

In other pool play action Wednesday, Colony beat Bartlett 51-32. Chase Stephens scored a game-high 16 for the Knights Amanda Smith added nine.

West Anchorage rallied to edge Palmer 44-43.

Friday, in the gold bracket, Colony plays West at 4:30 p.m. In the maroon bracket, Palmer plays Kenai at 4:30
