Warriors earn basketball sweep of Soldotna, Kenai

WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors girls basketball program continues to use its depth charge to blow up Northern Lights Conference opponents.

Eleven different Warriors scored as Wasilla cruised to a 62-25 victory over the Soldotna Stars Friday in Soldotna.

Leya DePriest and McKenna Dinkel each supplied 11 points for Wasilla, which outscored the Stars 21-6 in the third quarter. Catherine Baham and Maclaren Obermski added seven points each.

Lindsey Wong led the Stars with 11.

In boys’ action, Isaac Houck scored 10 points to lead Wasilla to a 42-31 victory over the Stars. Kobe Brown added nine in the victory.

Saturday, the Wasilla defense held Kenai to single digits in scoring in every quarter, and beat the Kards 62-24 in Kenai. Dinkel and DePriest led the Warriors with 10 points each. Baham and Kellie Lindeman added nine points each.

The Wasilla boys beat Kenai 42-36 Saturday. Daniel Headdings scored a game-high 12 points and Aeron Milliron added 10.

The WHS girls are now 7-0 in NLC play, and the boys are 6-1.
