Dylan Mead has enjoyed a strong start to his sophomore season, and the forward struck again for the Wasilla Warriors.
Mead scored a pair of goals to lead Wasilla to a 3-2 win over rival Houston Nov. 14 at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla
Mead used an unassisted tally to tie the score at 1 with 4 minutes, 52 seconds left in the second period. He also provided the game-winner at the 8:26 mark of the third.
Mead now has a team-best 12 points, six goals and six assists, through eight games.
Wasilla netted two of its three goals in a span of less than 30 seconds in the second. Robert Mikulecky gave Wasilla a 2-1 lead 29 seconds after Mead scored for the first time.
John Natekin led Houston with a goal and an assist. Andrey Efimov also scored.
Wasilla outshot the Hawks 27-26. Both netminers, Wasilla’s Braeden Willis and Houston’s Dylan Shaffer, finished with 24 saves.
In another Valley hockey rivalry, Palmer blanked Colony 5-0 Tuesday night.
Chase Ringler scored a pair of goals for the Moose. Clayton Conrad, Levi Goff and Eli Ringer also scored. Goff added a pair of assists.
Ryder Lawton earned a 22-save shutout in the Moose net.
