Warriors edge Palmer on the ice

The Palmer Moose struck first, but the Wasilla Warriors pulled away late.

Wasilla’s Roman Holler scored with just more than nine minutes remaining in regulation to give the Warriors a 3-2 win over rival Palmer Tuesday at the MTA Events Center in Palmer.

Branson Starheim and Karson McGrew also scored for the Warriors.

Gavin Gore scored both goals for Palmer. Gore gave the Moose the early leading, scoring 14 seconds into the first period. He added his second goal with 1:03 left in the first. Carter Greco bagged an assist on both goals.

Starheim tied the game for the Warriors about a minute after Gore gave the Moose their first lead. McGrew scored midway through the second to tie the score at 2.

Wasilla outshot Palmer 28-17 in the win. Philip Brevogel made 15 saves for the Warriors in the win. Joshua Horacek stopped 25 shots.
