WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors finished as the runner-up in the first prep wrestling tournament of the 2019 season.
Wasilla placed second in the team standings at The Altercation hosted by Houston High School with 138 total points. Defending state champion South Anchorage took home the team title. Colony (119.5) and Palmer (110) finished fourth and fifth.
A pair of Warriors won their weight classes Saturday. Sterling Uhlenhake was first at 152 pounds and Colton Lindquist won the 171-pound class. The pair was among seven Warriors to finish in the top 4. Alexander Logsdon (125 pounds) placed second; Tyler Foss (130), Bradley Keeney (160) and Jeffrey Palmer (285) each placed third; and Niles Williams (145) was fourth.
Colony also crowned an individual champ. Macarius Floresta finished for for the Knights at 215, and led seven Colony grapplers in the top 4. Evan Holmes (103) and Jared Hopinks (140) both finished as a runner-up. Elijah Larson (112), Jeffrey Reynolds (119) and Rhett Gallagher (135) were third, and Jerzy Ritz (103) finished fourth.
Palmer placed five in the top 4, and had three runner-up finishes. Antonio Woodfork (160), Jackson Acree (171) and Gunner Aderman (285) each placed second. Owen Manley (140) and Ethan Bleakney (189) were both third.
Charles Severance led Redington with a second-place finish at 135.
