ANCHORAGE -- The Wasilla Warriors finished third in the 25th annual Jerry Palmer Tournament at Bartlett High School Dec. 7.
The Warriors finished 4-1 in the 16-team wrestling extravaganza.
The Jerry Palmer Tournament is unique in the fact that it pairs teams rather than individuals on the bracket. Teams compete in dual meets in the double-elimination tournament.
The Warriors posted wins over North Pole and Soldotna prior to losing to Skyview 33-28 in the semifinals.
Skyview eventually won the tournament, defeating Lathrop.
Wasilla won seven matches in their loss to Skyview.
Jed Wade scored a major decision in the 215-pound class and heavywieght Jeremiee Miesler registered a pin for Wasilla.
The Warriors swept the North Pole Patriots 65-0 in the first round of the tournament, winning each of the 13 matches in the dual meet.
The Colony Knights went 1-2 in the tournament, defeating West and losing to Kodiak and Juneau Douglas. Palmer finished 0-2 losing to North Pole and Soldotna.
