Warriors finish tied for third in Buddy Dale baseball tourney

The Wasilla Warriors settled for a third-place tie in their annual Buddy Dale Invitational at Wasilla High School over the weekend.

Wasilla tied Soldotna 5-5 in the third-place game.

The Warriors used a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to force the tie.

Waylon Halverson scored on a wild pitch to knot the game at 5. Early in the inning, Jacob Johnson led off with a double and scored on a Hunter Delcour bloop single.

Delcour drove in three runs in the game. Halverson and Johnson scored two runs each. Lalo Palomares also scored.

Wasilla finished 2-1-1 in the tourney. Colony finished 2-2 and Palmer was 1-3 in the tourney.

Wasilla opened with an 11-5 victory over rival Palmer. The Warriors scored four in the second and added a six-run fourth inning. Halverson drove in four runs in the win. Ramon Guzman led the Warriors with three runs scored. Palomares and Jimmy Lackey each scored twice.

Reed Craner led Palmer with two hits and a run. Wyatt Beal added a hit and two runs. Avery Shults drove in three for Palmer.

Wasilla also edged West 3-2. Palomares scattered five hits and two earned runs, while fanning four over five innings pitched. The Warriors took their lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Palomares, Halverson and Lackey scored runs.

Eagle River beat Wasilla 9-1.

Colony beat West Valley 13-12 to open the tourney and Palmer 16-6 on the final day. Four different Knights scored two runs each in the win over the Wolfpack. Jake Seward-Jenski led Colony with three RBI. Boman Marks, Chase Carlson and Aidan Satterly drove in three each.

Hayden Sherman and Cody Otto scored four runs each for Colony during the win over Palmer. Carlson and Easton Cook drove in two each.

Tristan Barney had two hits, a run and an RBI for the Moose. Mason Miller scored twice.

Palmer scored a 10-5 win over West. Jacob Rockey scored two runs and drove in two for Palmer. Rocky was one of nine Moose with at least a run scored, and four with an RBI.

Eagle River beat Palmer 12-2. Service got past Colony 6-2.

Service beat Eagle River 5-3 in the championship game.

Marks, Seward-Jenski, Craner, Beal, Guzman and Halverson were all named to the all-tournament team.
