ANCHORAGE — Wasilla’s brutal weekend ended with a third loss in the loaded Alaska Airlines Classic at West Anchorage on Saturday.
Nome edged Wasilla 49-45 in the tournament’s seventh-place game. Cass Mattheis scored a game-high 22 points for the Nanooks, who notched a 17-11 second-quarter run.
Alex Baham led the Warriors with 15 points in the loss. He was 4 of 9 from behind the arc.
Cash McGregor added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Cameron Brown chipped in nine points.
ACS, the 2013 3A state runner-up, scored a 74-45 win over the Warriors on Friday. Brown led the Warriors with 15 points. McGregor chipped in 11.
The Warriors’ long weekend started with a loss to the Wasatch Academy Tigers, a prep school from Utah.
