Wasilla freshman Hailee Giacobbe started her prep career with a win in the Wasilla Trailblazer cross-country running race Saturday at the Bumpus Sports Complex in Wasilla.
Giacobbe used a time of 19 minutes, 47.37 seconds to finish first in the varsity girls race. Colony grabbed the team title with 19 total points. Colony freshman Aubrey Virgin was second with a time of 20:35. Stella Rose and Luci Wright finished fourth and fifth for the Knights.
Karley Tichenor was 10th to lead Palmer and Mya Campbell was 12th for Redington.
Colony also finished first in the boys team standings with 38 points. Senior Tobias Buchanan led the Knights with a time of 17:39, and a fifth-place finish. Corbin Wilson (sixth), Pierce McDonough (seventh) and Chadon Lutz (ninth) also finished in the top 10 for Colony.
Junior Stephen Hafen was third for Wasilla, and led all Valley runners with a time of 17:06. Charles Thiede was 13th to lead Palmer.
