Warriors, Knights sweep Fairbanks foes

The Wasilla Warriors have locked up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Mid-Alaska Conference Championships.

Wasilla used a pair of lopsided wins over Fairbanks teams to improve to 3-0 in league play. Jacob Hansen tossed a one-hit shutout and led the Warriors to a 10-0 win over West Valley, Hansen also contributed from the leadoff spot in the lineup with two hits, two runs and two RBI. Will Plowman drove in two runs, Calvin Stoll added two hits and two runs.

Wasilla also blanked Lathrop 15-0 in three innings. Andre Brown, Pedro Camacho and Wyatt Walling drove in three runs each. Brown and Ty Dudley scored three times.

The MAC tourney is May 28-29 in Fairbanks.

The Colony Knights improved to 2-1 in the MAC with wins over Lathrop and West Valley.

Colony beat Lathrop 27-3. Brayden Methven led Colony with five RBI. Brayden Parrent added four RBI. Evan Walker scored a game-high four runs. Ten different Knights scored at least two runs in the win.

Colony also beat West Valley 14-9. The Knights trailed 4-1 early, but scored a combined 13 runs in the fourth through sixth innings. Kaden Ketchum led Colony with four RBI. Carson McLaughlin drove in three runs. Colton Haase, Ben Alley and Walker scored three runs each.

Palmer scored a pair of wins at Homer over the weekend. Owen Hayes led Palmer to an 8-3 win over the Mariners with three hits, two runs and two RBI. Jason Gunderson added two RBI and Landon Guggenmos scored twice.

The Moose also blasted Homer 19-5. Connor Heal and Dylan Garrettson drove in three runs each. Garrettson and Gunderson led the Moose with four RBI each,
