Warriors, Knights win on first day of Palmer hockey tourney

PALMER — A Wasilla freshman enjoyed an unforgettable debut.

Colin Goff notched a hat trick during a 5-2 win over Palmer Thursday, the first day of the Palmer Hockey Showdown at the MTA Events Center.

Goff found the back of the net twice during a 12-second span late in the second and added the third goal of his first career high school game with 8:49 left in the third. Garrison Holler and Troy Randall also scored for Wasilla. Dillon Matson collected a pair of assists.

Zach Nelius and Darian Wilson scored for the Moose.

Wasilla outshot Palmer 44-26. TJ O’Rourke finished with 39 saves for Palmer, and Bryce Frazier made 24 stops for the Warriors.

Colony 3, Juneau 1

A pair of players grabbed a goal and an assist to lead Colony to a 3-1 win over Juneau at the Palmer Hockey Showdown.

Mitchell Diltz and Ayden Attungana finished with a pair of points in the win. Dane Jellich also scored for Colony.
