PALMER — The Wasilla Warriors opened their season with a win over rival Colony Tuesday.
Wasilla scored a 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19) victory over the Knights.
Amber Sizemore led the Warriors with a dozen kills and five digs. Aimee Bushnell collected a match-high 17 digs. Merit Paramo had five kills and four digs.
Colony, Wasilla and Palmer are competing in the Chugiak Invitational, which starts today at Chugiak High School. Colony begins pool play against North Pole today at 2:40 p.m. The Moose meet Soldotna at 2:40 p.m. The Warriors face host Chugiak at 3:20.
The Chugiak Invite features 15 teams, which will be separated into gold and silver brackets on Saturday. Records in pool play action determine Saturday’s brackets.
