WASILLA — The Wasilla freshman class came up big for the Warriors Saturday morning.
The Wasilla freshmen combined for eight goals and 11 points to lead the Warriors to a 12-0 win over the Houston Hawks at Wasilla High.
Freshmen Teyonnah Williams and Alexa Abbott each posted the hat trick. Williams also grabbed two assists.
Freshmen Alexa Starr and sophomore Haleigh Ryneski posted two goals and an assist each. Josie Fletcher, Kaitlyn Butcher and Natalie Bailey also scored for the Warriors. Sarah Schmidt earned her first victory and shutout in the Wasilla net.
Wasilla improved to 4-1-0 with the win.
On Friday, the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season. Grace Christian used an early goal to beat Wasilla 4-2 in Anchorage.
The Grizzlies scored during the first minute of the game to take the 1-0 lead.
Starr and senior Nikki Vanni scored for the Warriors.
Wasilla boys blank Hawks
WASILLA — Three different players scored twice to lead Wasilla to an 8-0 win over Houston at Wasilla High on Saturday.
Kyler Perry, Oleg Lazko and Elijah Crawford all posted a pair of goals. Chance Morrison and Ethan Keenan also scored for the Warriors.
Corey Hogan and Nathan Hansen combined for the shutout in the Wasilla goal.
Grace Christian edged Wasilla 1-0 in Anchorage on Friday.
Josh Beverage scored during the 55th minute to give the Grizzlies the win.
Bulldogs sweep Hawks
HOUSTON — The Nikiski Bulldogs scored a pair of wins at Houston High on Friday.
The Nikiski girls posted a 5-0 win and the boys beat Houston 5-1.
