WASILLA — A pair of Wasilla Warriors each ran to a pair of personal bests Wednesday afternoon during a six-team meet at Wasilla High School.
Juniors Olivia Davies and Allison VanPelt combined to grab four individual wins. Davies finished first with a time of 12.88 seconds in the 100 meters and 27.98 in the 200. VanPelt set personal records with her wins in the 800 (2:29.25) and 3,200 (11:39.00) Another member of the Wasilla girls squad, Cheyenne Green, set a personal best with a throw of 29 feet, 1 inch during her win in the shot put.
Grace Looney used her win in the discus to help Colony finish first in the girls team standings with 130 total points. Wasilla was second with 89 points.
Matthew Daniels also posted a personal best, a mark of 16.4 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, to win the event and help the Moose finish first in the boys team standings with 131 points. Larry Cutsforth (800) and Chance Tucker (3,200) also recorded wins for Palmer.
Alexander Bayle (discus), Samking Germain (shot put) and Gavin Block (3,200) earned wins for runner-up Colony.
Wasilla Lake Christian’s Lizzie Palmberg placed first in the girls’ 100 hurdles, and Wasilla’s Junior Matthews was first in the boys’ 100.
