ANCHORAGE — The Wasilla Warriors started their 2014 season with a pair of nonconference baseball victories at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage on Saturday.
The Warriors opened their season with a 6-2 win over Service, and followed with a 6-0 shutout of Bartlett.
Senior Mitchell Chauvin collected a pair of doubles and scored a run to help lead Wasilla to the win over Service. Junior Sam Loyer scored twice for the Warriors. Juniors Blake Marks and Blake Carricaburu also tallied runs for WHS.
Senior Tyler Boensch, one of four pitchers used, earned the win on the mound.
Senior Tyler Hansen drove in a pair of runs in Wasilla’s 6-0 win over Bartlett. Sophomore Jeffrey Forster and senior Matt Thomas also finished with an RBI. Nolan Monaghan earned the victory on the mound for Wasilla.
