SOLDOTNA — The Wasilla Warriors swept the titles during the Northern Lights Conference Championships at Skyview High School in Soldotna.
The Wasilla girls claimed their crown with a 35-30 win over rival Colony. The Wasilla boys also beat Colony in the final, scoring a 69-52 win.
In the girls' title game, freshman Alexis Imoe and junior Kelsey Cottle each posted a team-high eight points for Wasilla. Sophomore Alyssa Hutchins posted a game-best 12 points for Colony. The win gives Wasilla its first region crown since 2007 and eighth since 2001.
Senior Cody Pfeifer scored a game-high 29 points to give the Warriors their second title in as many seasons and sixth since 2000. Senior Drew Ford added 17 in the victory. Senior Scott Herman led Colony with 19 points.
