SOLDOTNA — It was a big day for the sophomore class of Wasilla’s boys soccer squad, Saturday, during a 7-1 win over the Skyview Panthers at Skyview High School in Soldotna.
Sophomores Paul Sliwa, Cameron Perry and Alex Solobyov each found the back of the net, and sophomore Eli Tingstad earned the win in the Warrior goal.
“It’s definitely a positive to get that contribution from that core group of sophomores,” Wasilla head coach Blake Livingston said by phone after the match.
Senior Aaron Sharrow led the Warriors (2-2-1) with a pair of goals. Senior Tillerman Kroon and junior Borja Angoitia also scored for WHS.
On Friday, Wasilla posted its first win of the season, a 5-0 victory over Homer at Homer High School.
Angoitia and Jose Sorto each scored twice to lead the Warriors to the win. Sharrow also netted a goal for Wasilla.

SOLDOTNA — Amy Jo Coonrod and Rachel Kennedy each posted the hat trick to lead Wasilla to an 11-0 win over Skyview at Skyview High School in Soldotna on Saturday.
Sammy Becker and Tabor Tingstad combined to post the shutout in the Wasilla goal. After working between the pipes for the first 40 minutes, Becker scored a pair of goals in the second half for Wasilla, which improved to 5-0-1 with the win.
Tabitha Bare, Aryn Crane and Maija Kellner-Rode also scored for the Warriors.
On Friday, Coonrod and Kennedy scored to lead Wasilla to a 2-0 win over Homer.
Becker and Mile Davis combined for the shutout.
