WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors advanced to the fourth-place game of the ASAA First National Cup 4A state hockey tournament with a 7-3 win over the West Valley Wolfpack at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena on Friday morning.
Senior Dane Wilson posted the hat trick and five different players scored for Wasilla in the consolation round win. Wasilla fell to the three-time defending state champion South Anchorage Wolverines in the first round on Thursday.
Senior Adam Friese, senior Brian Turner, junior Levi Johnston and sophomore Matthew Friese also scored for WHS. Senior Jesse Hugli stopped 15 shots in the win.
Lathrop also advanced to the fourth-place game after beating Soldotna 4-2 in the early game on Friday. The Warriors and Malemutes face off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Menard Arena.
