The Wasilla Warrior basketball squads continue to their reign on top of the 4A state basketball polls.
After a showdown with the Soldotna Stars, the Warriors remained undefeated in the state of Alaska with a win over the previously undefeated Stars. The Wasilla girls garnered 40 total points and each of the eight first-place votes.
The Wasilla boys remain in first place of the boys' 4A class, but the Bartlett Golden Bears are gaining ground. Bartlett stands just two points shy of the Warriors in total votes.
Wasilla earned five first-place votes and 37 total points.
Bartlett received three first-place votes and 35 overall votes.
The Colony boys remained fourth in the poll after a win over Palmer. The 15-7 Knights received 13 points.
Despite their win over Colony, the Moose girls did not recieve votes in this week's poll.
Several local showdowns will take place this weekend.
The Warriors will make the short trip to Colony High School to take on the Knights tonight.
Palmer will visit Wasilla on Saturday.
Colony will celebrate its senior night on Friday and Wasilla will honor its seniors on Saturday.
This will be the last action for local hoops teams before they venture off for the Region III championship. The tournament will be held in Homer March 13-15.
The Wasilla squads have all but locked up the top seeds in the region tourney. The Colony boys have their sights set on the second seed.
The Palmer girls are in line for the third seed of the girls tournament.
The top three teams in the Region III tournament will advance to the state tourney, held in Anchorage at the Sullivan Arena, the final weekend of March.
