WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors are on a run. The Warriors have won three straight, a stretch that includes a victory over one of the state’s best.
Wasilla upset defending 4A state champion Dimond 3-2 (25-12, 10-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-12) Sept. 27 at Wasilla High School.
Josi Schachle led the Warriors with 18 kills in the win. Jada Schultz added 13 kills and five blocks. Lily Htce supplied 39 assists. Emily Cizek collected 22 digs.
It was all part of what could have been a brutal two-day span. The night before, Wasilla beat the other team that played for a 4A state title last year, West Anchorage. The Warriors beat the Eagles 3-2 at home.
The Warriors also beat Palmer 3-2 in Northern Lights Conference action last week. Wasilla’s run started with a runner-up finish at the West Spiketacular in mid-September.
