Warriors wallop Fairbanks foes

The Wasilla girls scored a pair of nonconference victories during a trip to Fairbanks last week. The Warriors pounded West Valley 89-36 and defeated Lathrop handily 70-57.

Senior guard Kelly Tompkins was on fire during the weekend, nailing four shots from behind the arc in each of the games. Tompkins scored 16 against the Wolfpack and 17 against the Malemutes.

Senior post Marcia Schirack hit 14 shots from the field and scored a season-high 28 points against Lathrop. The big performance in Fairbanks could be promising for University of Alaska Fairbanks fans. Schirack will don a UAF Nanook uniform next season.

Trista White celebrated a homecoming with 19 points against West Valley and nine points against her former squad, the Malemutes. White transferred to Wasilla from Lathrop before this season.

Wasilla got out to a giant lead against the Wolfpack, outscoring West Valley 50-14 in the first half.

Wasilla improved to 7-2 overall with the wins.

Knights split against Anchorage foes

The Colony boys split a pair of games against nonconference opponents this week. The Knights defeated West 62-48 on Saturday and fell to Bartlett 73-59 on Tuesday. Both contests were held at the Colony High School gym.

Joe Reza scored a game-high 15 points in the win over the Eagles. Nate Hyslip scored 14 points for CHS and Landon Swank added 12 points for Colony.

Jason Christiansen put in a team-high 14 points in the loss to the defending 4A state champion Golden Bears. Reza added 10 points.

Hawks fly past Grace

The Houston Hawks scored a key conference victory beating Grace Christian 61-45 at Houston High last week.

Peter Clemens led a group of three Hawks in double-digit scoring. The senior guard pouted in 13 points. Fellow senior Jason Webb and forward D.J. Sandidge each scored 12 points.
