Luke Devine used a monster effort to help lead Wasilla to a 43-36 win over Chugiak during the first day of the Alaska Prep Shootout Thursday at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
Devine finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and three steals during the win. All were game highs. With the win, Wasilla moves forward and will play West Valley Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals. The Wolfpack beat Juneau-Douglas 77-46 on Thursday.
Palmer is also in the tournament field and suffered a 66-36 loss to host Dimond during the first game of the tourney Thursday afternoon. Amiqaq Maclean scored a dozen to lead the Moose. Carson Helm added 10, and Lavar Marshall chipped in seven points and a team-high eight rebounds. Dimond’s Isaiah Moses led all scorers with 30. The Moose will face Northern Lights Conference rival Kodiak in the consolation semifinals Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Colony girls win at home
The Colony Knights scored a 67-45 nonconference girls basketball win over East Anchorage Thursday night at Colony High School.
