WASILLA — Senior Leya DePriest collected a dozen points and nine rebounds to help the Wasilla Warriors grab the 2015 Doc Larson’s Roundball Classic title with a 57-51 win over the Lincoln Cardinals during the final day of the holiday tournament, Saturday at Wasilla High School.

DePriest, who was named most valuable player of the tournament, was one of four Warriors to score in double digits. McKenna Dinkel recorded a team-high 13, and Azlynn Brandenburg and Taylor Anderson added 10 each.

Reed Hazard led the Portland, Oregon, school with a game-high 14 points.

Wasilla also beat Barrow and the Coronado Cougars of Henderson, Nevada, during the three-day tournament.

Barrow 78, Coronado (Nev.) 77

Barrow sophomore Travis Adams drained three free throws with no time left on the clock to give the Whalers a thrilling 78-77 win over the Coronado Cougars in the boys’ title game of Doc Larson’s Roundball Classic.

With the Whalers trailing by a bucket during the final seconds, Adams heaved a long three-point attempt at the buzzer, and was fouled on the play, giving Adams and the Whalers once final chance.

Adams hit all three attempts to give the defending 3A state champions the win.

Adams, who was named MVP of the boys’ tournament, finished with 30 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. He played all 32 minutes of the contest.

Fellow sophomore Kamaka Hepa finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Roy Henry Snow chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Trey Hurlburt was one of three Cougars with 20 or more points, supplying a team-high 23. Kennedy Koehler and Jake Desjardins added 22 and 21, respectively.

Juneau-Douglas 69, Wasilla 57

Kaleb Tompkins scored 31 points to lead Juneau-Douglas to a 69-57 win over host Wasilla in the third-place game of the boys’ bracket.

Daniel Headdings led Wasilla with 18 points. Aeron Milliron added 11 for the Warriors.

Ambridge (Pa.) 51, Colony 46

Ambridge used 34 second-half points to score a 51-46 win over Colony and deny the Knights their first win of the tournament.

Aaron Hilzendigger led the Bridgers with 15 points. Anton Chamblee led Colony with 13.
