Warriors win individual titles at Bob Bailey tourney

ANCHORAGE — It took one Wasilla grappler only 44 seconds and another needed overtime, but both were crowned individual champions during the final round of the Bob Bailey Invitational at Bartlett High School on Saturday.

Zech Rocksted pinned East Anchorage’s Tanos McCauley in 44 seconds to win the 220-pound weight class. Nate McKimson edged Isaac Deaton of Valdez 9-7 in overtime to win at 160. The McKimson-Deaton was a match of defending state champions. McKimson won the 4A 145-pound title last season. Deaton won a 123A championship at 152.

Rocksted and McKimson helped Wasilla finish third in the team standings with 94.5 points. East Anchorage on the tourney with 176.5, well ahead of runner-up Eagle River (102).
