SOLDOTNA — During the North-South Invitational wrestling tournament at Soldotna High School, everyone found themselves looking up at the Wasilla Warriors.
Wasilla used 193 total points to cruise to the team title of the annaul event.
Josh Brown and Casey Katchinska each won their respective weight classes for the Warriors, who have now won two tournaments this year.
WHS opened the season with the team title at the Houston Invitational.
Brown scored a 10-2 major decision over Chugiak’s Ben Sullivan in the 125-pound class. Katchinska needed just 39 seconds to pin Seward’s Bill Markowitz in the 171-pound final.
Abe Fox (103), Chris Crane (189) and Ryan Pomrenke (215) also advanced to the finals and placed second.
Cole Smith (103), Caleb Pempek (145) and Jake Johnson (285) finished third for WHS.
With 193 points, Wasilla finished well ahead of the second-place Seward Seahawks, who finished with 119.
Michael Spano (112), Jake George (125) and Jeremy White (160), also advanced to the consolation finals for the Warriors, but each finished in fourht place.
The Bethel Warriors were third with 105.5. Skyview was fourth with 103 points, and ahead the host Soldotna Stars, who ended the tourney with 101 points.

Knights win John Tobin
NORTH POLE — The Colony Knights placed seven grapplers in the finals en route to winning the team title at the John Tobin Invitational at North Pole High School on Saturday.
Jesse McKee, Angelo Bellotte and Eric Fan each posted individual titles for the Knights.
Jesse McKee beat Lathrop’s Tevin Tolver 10-4 to win the 140-pound weight class. Bellotte edged Brent Reed, of South Anchorage, 7-5 at 189. Fan scored an 18-3 technical fall victory over Lathrop’s Jordan Lewis at 215.
Isaac Wilson (112), Charles Coisman (119), Sam Loggins (130) and Kenny Boykin (171) advanced to the finals and finished second.
Wilson, Coisman, Loggins and Boykin were all top seeds in the tournament.

win at Cordova
HOUSTON — There was a distinct Mat-Su flavor during the final round of the Cordova Invitational at Cordova High School on Saturday.
Only two weight classes during the final round did not include a Valley wrestler.
Palmer scored seven individual titles and placed eight wrestlers in the finals. Houston passed seven into the final round and a trio of Hawks won their weight class.
Jared Kemp (125), L.J. Leppanen (130), Nick Stahler (140), Isaac Minturn (152), Sam Heindel (171), Ransome Kelley (189) and Will Peters (285) won titles. David White finished second to the Moose in an all-Palmer final at 130.
Bri Shell (103), Drew Drake (112) and Justin Crowley (215) won their weight class for Houston.
Alecea Kaer (112), Janae Shannon (125), Garrett Elder (145), Arron Reese (152) and Tyler Barron (171) each finished second.
