Warriors win region hockey title

The Wasilla Warriors used a 3-0 win over West Valley to win the Mid-Alaska Conference title. The Warriors also clinched a spot in the ASAA Division I state tournament, which starts Feb. 9 at the Menard Center in Wasilla.

Easton McRee, Grant Barksdale and Mason Holler scored for Wasilla. Barksdale also had an assist. Kole Kite earned the 18-save shutout.

West Valley beat Colony 5-1 the following day to grab the other automatic state tournament bid in the conference. Carsen Lantto scored the lone goal for the Knights.
