WASILLA -- By the look of Palmer's 26-24 win in the first game of its match at Wasilla High School Tuesday, it looked as if the Moose might be heading toward it's first two-match winning streak in Region III play this season.
But momentum slowly shifted to Wasilla's end after that first game and the Warriors earned a 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-22, 25-10) win over their cross-town rival.
Palmer head coach Steve Reynolds said he was certainly pleased with the Moose win in the first game, a back and forth affair, and happy with the play in the first three games of the match.
"The first three games were well-played," Reynolds said. "Nice team work, very nice volleyball."
Reynolds said miscommunication, on the part of his team, could have led to a loss in key points in the latter portions of the match.
Three Warriors hit double-digits in kills in the match. Senior Tarrah Naczi posted a match-high 13 kills. Kristen Lenius notched 12 kills and Allie Johnson added 11.
Kaylee Johnson and Carlie Douglas each scored a match-high 15 digs for the Warriors.
Ashley Dickerson recorded a team-high 11 kills for the Moose. The sophomore middle hitter did not have an error in 22 attempts. Leslie Berberich led the Moose with six
digs.
