To the editor:
WASI members who visit the Wasilla Senior Center after the recent traumatic events are finding a new atmosphere of collegiality and cooperation.
Thanks to Pat Brown, a very helpful adjunct furnished to us by MASST, several new opportunities are now available. Every Friday from 4 to 5 p.m., Pat chairs a study group in Biblical archaeology. Under the new chef Ken, meals have become gourmet experiences with a series of new dishes attracting more lunch diners.
The Strong Senior exercise classes are well established and members are reporting satisfaction. The Wednesday bingo games are thriving. Wii teams for basketball and golf will soon be forming and tournaments scheduled. The Wednesday afternoon art group is growing. It is expected there will soon be an afternoon movie available. Pinochle players are present every day and bridge players are invited to form foursomes.
Elder Watch members are looking forward to the October members’ meeting with the expectation of voting on bylaw revisions and the election of several members to the board.
Meanwhile, the governance committee is meeting regularly to prepare recommendations for bylaw changes.
