Wasilla Area Senior Center’s annual Miles for Meals Fun Run is Saturday at 1301 S. Century Circle in Wasilla. More than 200 participants are excepted to take part in the three-mile fundraiser. A free barbecue lunch follows the 5-kilometer event. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Cost is $30 per person and $70 for a family of four. The race begins at 11 a.m. All participants are encouraged to get sponsors, but it is not necessary.
Proceeds benefit the Meals On Wheels program, which delivered 33,400 meals to clients in 2010. WASI expects a 6 percent increase in delivered meals alone this year, according to a press release from the center.
