ANCHORAGE — Wasilla got two-run doubles from Blake Marks and Nolan Monaghan to key the Warriors’ 9-2 nonconference high school baseball win over East on Friday at Kosinski Fields.
Wasilla got an unearned run in the second inning and picked up three more in the third to go up 4-0.
East cut the lead to 4-1 on an RBI single by Carl Gatter in the bottom of the inning, but the Warriors tacked on three runs in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth.

Wasilla also played Eagle River Friday. Jared Froslie capped a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to help Eagle River walk off with a dramatic 7-6 win over the Warriors.
The Wolves trailed 6-5 heading into the final frame, but used a leadoff walk by Michael Rosenberg, a bunt single by Jared Phearson and an intentional walk to Cory Lestochi to load the bases. A passed ball – the second of the inning – scored Rosenberg, and after an intentional walk to Cody Keith, Froslie rapped a 2-2 pitch up the middle to plate Phearson with his second hit of the game.
Phearson had two hits and earned the win for Eagle River, which also got 3 RBIs from Froslie.
Nolan Monaghan went 3-for-3 for Wasilla and Buddy Dale was 2-for-4. Sam Loyer took the loss.
Wolverines race past Colony
ANCHORAGE — Julito Fazzini went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead South to an 11-3 nonconference prep baseball win over Colony on Saturday
at Kosinski.
Tommy Koloski pitched four innings to get the win and Jonny Homza tossed three to get the save.
Palmer softball splits
SOLDOTNA — The Palmer Moose played a pair of softball games on the Kenai Peninsula over the weekend.
Palmer opened with a 14-7 win over Kenai Friday. Saturday, Soldotna rallied to edge Palmer 8-7.
