Wasilla boys, Colony girls win Colony Invite team titles

The Wasilla boys and Colony girls earned team titles during the Colony Invitational track and field meet May 14 at Colony High School.

Timothy Grisso, Deshawn Campbell and Dylan Jeffus each won a pair of events to lead the Wasilla boys. Grisso was first in the 100 meters and 200, Campbell swept the hurdles events, and Jefffus won the high jump and long jump. Eric Kolomeychuk also won the shot put. Payson White was second in the shot put and discus.

Wasilla finished with 179.33 total points, nearly 50 more than runner-up Grace Christian.

Ella Hopkins led the Colony girls with a first-place finish in the 800.

The Knights finished with 180 total points, 77 more than runner-up Anchorage Christian.

Palmer’s Katey Houser won all four girls events she entered, finishing first in the 200, 400, 1600 and 3200. Brooke Hronkin won the triple jump for the Palmer girls.

Redington’s Mya Campbell was first in the girls high jump and long jump. Cort Sandefur was first in the discus for the Redington boys.

Bella Hays led the Wasilla girls with wins in the discus and shot put.

Grant Keyes led the Palmer boys with a first-place finish in the triple jump. Matthew Rongitsch was first in the 400 for the Colony boys.
