HOMER — The Wasilla boys and girls each scored lopsided victories during the first day of the Northern Lights Conference Championships at Homer High School on Thursday.
In boys’ action, junior Braydon Kuiper scored a game-high 22 to lead the Warriors to a 56-31 win over Skyview. Wasilla, the top seed from the NLC North, used a 19-4 third-quarter to help setup a semifinal date with rival Colony.
Senior Wade Stahle scored seven of his 13 points in the third. Tyler Anderson added nine points in the game, and Connor Devine posted eight.
In the girls’ bracket, Wasilla jumped to a 23-1 lead and didn’t allow host Homer a field goal until the second quarter.
Eleven different Warriors scored in a win that sets up a semifinal match with rival Palmer today at 6:30 p.m. Seniors Kelsey Cottle and Hilary Apangolook scored a game-high nine points each. Senior Leisl Brown added eight.
