HOMER — The Wasilla Warriors won eight individual events en route to capturing the team title at the Homer Invitational swimming and diving meet in Homer on Saturday.
Christian Long and Jeff Frey won two events each for Wasilla, and David Kennedy, Charles Frey and Max Merriam also enjoyed first-place finishes.
Long swam to first place in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, while Jeff Frey won the 50 and 100 freestyle races.
Kennedy was the top diver in the boys’ 1-meter, Charles Frey finished first in the 100 backstroke and Merriam was the top swimmer in the 100 breaststroke.
The Warriors also won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Wasilla finished with 89 total points, four ahead of second-place Kodiak.
Rhowe Stefanski and Corbyn Jahn each notched top-five finishes in the 50 freestyle to lead Colony to a fourth-place finish in the boys’ standings.
Palmer finished eighth with five points.
Wasilla was also the top Valley team in the girls’ team standings, finishing fourth with 43 points.
Rachel Kennedy secured the family sweep with a win in the girls’ 1-meter diving event. Kennedy finished ahead of teammate Zandra Christianson, who finished second, and led a group of nine Valley divers to finish in the top nine.
Darlene Wilson finished third in the diving event for Colony, and the Knights girls were fourth overall with 25 points.
Palmer was eighth with 11 points.
