WASILLA — It took awhile, but the Wasilla Warriors finally had a chance to play for the Service Cougar Tip-Off Wednesday night. And the Warriors brought home the crown.
Sparked by Reilly Devine’s big night, Wasilla scored a 58-47 win over host Service in Anchorage. Devine collected 28 points and nine rebounds to help the Warriors win the three-team event that has started in mid-January.
Wasilla beat Anchorage Christian School 54-45 on the first day of the tourney, Jan. 19. The Warriors were slated to play Service Jan. 21 in the Tip-Off’s title game, but the game was postponed due to heavy snow and poor road conditions on the Glenn Highway. The teams found a hole on their schedules Wednesday, and the Warriors were able to score the 11-point win.
Isaac Houck added eight points and eight rebounds in the victory. Daniel Headdings chipped in six points and six assists. Luke Houck and Aeron Milliron also supplied a half-dozen points each, with Milliron also pulling down 11 rebounds.
