WASILLA — Although the community of Wasilla was established much earlier with the construction of the Alaska Railroad, it wasn’t incorporated as a city until 1974.
A 40th anniversary celebration is planned in the city’s honor at 7 p.m., March 28 at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla.
The free family friendly event includes activities and games for kids on the turf and a dance party with 1970s music — and a disco ball — spun by 1970s legendary DJ Steve Van Sant. R&R Productions will provide music and lights for the event.
Dress to impress, find a dance partner and practice your disco moves for an evening of vintage Wasilla fun. Also, Against the Grain will perform live from 10 p.m. to midnight.
Refreshments will be provided. For more information or to volunteer, call 357-9100.
