Wasilla Chamber holding annual Support Local November event

WASILLA — The Wasilla Chamber of Commerce is holding the 2023 Support Local November event with numerous participating businesses.

Throughout the month, community members are encouraged to do their holiday shopping at local small businesses with various opportunities to win prizes.

Tracy's Treasures owner Tracy Lorentz said this is her first year participating in the Support Local event and she really enjoys having the opportunity to be a part of the fun.

"It's exciting," Lorentz said. "I hope more people in the community will find me."

Tracy's Treasures is capping off November with a Black Friday sale at the store with special discounts on a variety of items.

Lorentz said the fun doesn't stop there. She said they're engaging the community with a variety of games and activities with door prizes throughout December.

"I guess we have to keep it up because they're really liking it," Lorentz said.

There's also a chance for customers to win a six foot long Christmas train for spending $200 or more. Customers have through Nov. 24 to enter.

Lorentz's husband Robert said that shopping at local businesses is a great way to help friends and neighbors have a brighter holiday season.

"You're helping support all the families that are here. We give a lot back to the community. If you're shopping locally, you're helping everybody out," Robert said.

Tracy's Treasures has a Toys for Tots collection box in the store. Robert said that's an important cause to get behind and encourages anyone planning to visit their store to consider bringing a donation to help a Local child in need.

"We'd love to see some additional support from the community," Robert said.

Support Local November is one of numerous events hosted by the Wasilla Chamber that promote local shopping, including Love Local which is held in February.
