WASILLA — The open candidate filing period for the Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce board of directors ends Wednesday at noon.
Up for election are six seats, as six of the current directors were appointed on an interim basis. While the directors typically serve staggered three-year terms, the seats in this election will come with a one-, two- or three-year term as determined by the new board after the election.
The list of candidates will be released at the next board meeting on Thursday at 4:40 p.m., and announced to the membership on Friday.
Starting Friday, candidates will have 10 days to file for the election by petition. Petitions must have signatures from at least 5 percent of the general membership.
The finial list will be confirmed by the board on Sept. 21. A candidate forum will be held on Oct. 6, and ballots will be mailed out on Oct. 15.
More information is on the chamber’s website at www.wasillachamber.org.
