Wasilla resident Stevie Collins has been training and competing with show dogs for her entire life. On Feb. 13 and 14, her dog, Siberian Husky Riot, will compete in the annual Westminster dog show competition. The show will be televised live on Nat Geo WILD from 10 a.m. – noon Alaska Time.
Collins said Riot was a top-ranked Siberian Husky in the U.S. in 2016.
Riot’s big time in the spotlight will be during its showing at the Westminster Kennel Club held at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 14. The dog’s show name is “BIS GCHB Livewire’s Disturbing the Peace @Britestar.”
The Westminster dog show started in 1877, and is named for a now-defunct but once-popular hotel in New York City. Around 3,000 dogs compete in Westminster every year.
