The Wasilla girls and boys both finished undefeated during the annual Doc Larson Roundball Classic at Wasilla High School.
The Wasilla girls earned wins over Tikigaq, West Anchorage and South Anchorage.
Layla Hays used a double-double to lead Wasilla to a Warriors to a 58-52 win over Tikigaq. Hays finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Kaydence Gittlein added nine points. Mielee Merchant led Wasilla to a 68-28 win over South. Merchant scored 24 points. Hays added 12.
Wasilla also beat West 72-42.
The Wasilla boys beat Eagle River 66-41 and South 54-49.
Arthur Adams led Wasillla with 21 points against the Wolves. Connor Dudley and Parker Kroon added a dozen each. Kroon scored 18 against South. Dudley added 12 points and Adams had 10.
The Palmer girls and the Colony boys also played in the tournament.
Palmer fell to Tikigaq 65-31. Abby Pettit led the Moose with seven points.
Colony was 1-2 in the tourney. The Knights scored a 65-53 victory over Eagle River. Doherty (Colorado) beat Colony 86-72. West Anchorage edged the Knights 78-76.
The Houston Hawks boys and girls were part of the Craig Jung Kenai River Challenge at Kenai Central High School.
The Kenai boys needed a buzzer-beater to get by Houston 70-69 on the final day. Hayden Howard led the Hawks with 29. Cole Taylor scored 19. The Soldotna girls beat Houston 55-40. Anna Whitted scored 27 for the Hawks.
The Houston girls beat the Kenai JV 42-22. Abbie Baird and Dallas Winter scored nine points each. Ninilchik scored a 75-65 win over the Houston boys. Howard and Taylor had 15 points each.
Whitted, Taylor and Howard were all named all-tournament.
