Despite a monster third quarter, the Wasilla Warriors fell just short in the championship game of a holiday basketball tournament in Arizona last week.
Sunnyside (Arizona) edged Wasilla 45-43 in the Flowing Wells Holiday Shootout in Tuscan.
Wasilla scored 23 of its 43 total points during a 23-11 third-quarter run in the loss. Katie Jackson hit her lone three of the game and scored seven points during that stretch. Jackson led Wasilla with 16 in the loss. Claire Bredberg added 10.
Wasilla cruised past host Flowing Wells 69-34 in the semifinals. The Warriors capped the first half with a 27-8 run and added 20 points in the third quarter.
Savannah Kroon led Wasilla with 14 points. Meilee Merchant added 13.
The Warriors also beat Amphitheatre (Arizona) 58-28, and Pusch Ridge Christian Academy 67-30.
Kroon led the way with 22 against Amphitheatre and 16 during the win over Pusch Ridge.
