WASILLA — Wasilla head coach Patrick O’Neill has seen a trend throughout his team’s first five matches of the season.

The Warriors are simply not allowing many opportunities on their opponent’s offensive side. And Wasilla grabbed another shutout victory.

Junior goalkeeper Aleks Kvalheim recorded her fourth straight shutout in Wasilla’s 3-0 Railbelt Conference win over Lathrop Saturday morning at Wasilla High School.

Wasillla improved to 5-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference with the win. The Warriors have allowed only one goal this season, and that score came in the final minutes of a 5-1 victory over Bartlett in the season opener. The Warriors also completed a long weekend worth of shutouts against Interior opponents. Wasilla blanked North Pole 11-0 on Thursday and followed with a 2-0 win over West Valley Friday before the victory over the Malemutes.

Wasilla also played to a scoreless tie with South Anchorage early in the season.

Emily Summers, Reese Sande and Kamryn Broach all scored during the victory over Lathrop. Sande set up the Summer goal six minutes into regulation. Sande, with an assist from Summers, gave the Warriors the 2-0 lead during the 31st minute. Broach scored right before halftime. Sande bagged her second assist of the game on the Broach goal.

In boys action, Lathrop beat Wasilla 5-1.

Knights sweep North Pole

Bella Brown scored a pair of first-half goals to lead Colony to a nonconference girls soccer win over North Pole Saturday morning at Colony High.

Gabby Wakaliuk added a goal in each half. Jazlyn Nino also scored.

Maddy Zmuda recorded the shutout in the Knights net.

Kyle Dearborn and Connor Friesen each netted a pair of goals during a 4-0 boys’ win over North Pole.

Hawks fall in Seward

Houston suffered its second straight shutout loss, falling 4-0 at Seward last Thursday.

Soldotna beat Houston 9-0 the day before.
