The Wasilla Warriors stormed to a 73-19 girls basketball victory over the East Anchorage Thunderbirds Wednesday at Wasilla High School.

The defending 4A state champions outscored East 30-0 in the first quarter and allowed the T-Birds only eight field goals. East also did not have a free throw attempt in the game.

Layla Hays led Wasilla with 16 points in the win. Mylee Anderson added 14, and Savannah Kroon chipped in a dozen.

The Warriors improved to 4-0 with the victory. Wasilla beat Nikiski, North Pole and Bartlett during the Doc Larson Roundball Classic in December at WHS. The Warriors have outscored opponents 276-92 in their first four games.

In boys action, East Anchorage, the two-time defending state champs, beat Wasilla 72-48.
