WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors stretched a nine-point halftime lead to 19 with a 10-0 run during the opening minutes of the third quarter and scored a 58-36 win over the Palmer Moose at Wasilla High School on Wednesday.
“We didn’t execute as a team very well,” Palmer head coach Paul Reid said. “Against a team like Wasilla, you’re not going to get by like that.”
Senior all-state guard Jenna Johnson scored six of her game-high 20 points during the run.
Senior Mikaela Bolling led the Moose with 14.
Wasilla improved to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the NLC with the win. The Warriors started the season with a 76-54 win over Dimond and followed with three losses at the Capitol City Classic at Juneau-Douglas High School in late December.
Palmer (0-3, 0-1) suffered a pair of losses at Juneau-Douglas in December.
